The programmer *might* avoid some complexity of the problem being coded. But the programmer instead must worry about inheritance hierarchies, confusing scope or visibility of variables, and the outrageous complexity of all the different places that something might be done to the results. Instead of concentrating on solving the problem at hand, the program is reduced to spending all his/her time thinking about the programming language organization and complexities that have *nothing* directly to do with the problem at hand. This is analogous to doctors in the US.
