Totally correct except for the cause of the apocalypse.  The causes of the apocalypse are (in no particular order but EMP is number one):
1. EMP over USA, _Lights Out_
2. financial failure of the USA dollar, _Holding Their Own_
3. Yellowstone super volcano, _Ashfall_
4. meteor or comet, _Lucifer's Hammer_
5. a series of terroristic events over a couple of weeks,
6. one or more civil wars in the USA
7. alien invasion, _Footfall_
8. about ten more types ...
