Great if your system is simple and you have *accurate* models for the devices you are interfacing too. I remember once in college a grad student in control theory had worked on a motor simulator that worked perfectly with his control software. Then he tried it on a real motor and it didn't work right. He blamed the real motor! lol >> If you just want to run Aristophanes's Sieve then a simulator would do >> just fine. > > Another example: your embedded box runs some complicated DSP algorithm > that converts one waveform to another. I thought we were talking about the RTX2000? This has gotten rather general. Of course there are plenty of situations where simulation is good. I've said exactly that. Several people here like the lower end MCUs for education because the hardware is available very inexpensively. I don't care. I just want hardware that does what I want. I used the rPi as a server to host the programming software for the Stellaris board I was using. I never got the Bluetooth module I bought working correctly so I've since switched to a Microsemi SmartFusion2 board with integrated Bluetooth. I hope that works better. -- Rick C
