Never seen the need for an iPhone, myself.  To some extent, it is just a
lead-in to iTunes, like Android is a lead in to targeted advertising.
A lot of people use the iPhone, so there's some pressure to toe the line
("you need an iPhone to Facetime with so-and-so").

I like being able to choose the hardware vendor.  My first was the
Droid Razr Maxx, which I liked a *lot*, now I have a Samsung S5, which is
even better.  My next might be a Nexus, we shall see.

I laugh when I see people with iPhones clad in thick plastic covers that
turn their slim little phone into an ugly-looking brick.  What would
Steve Jobs say? Why can't phone vendors build durability into their units?
