He doesn't know anything about semiconductor physics. When transistors first came to market the manufacturers stated that a transistor should be able to last about 25,000 years before failure. The circuit design that isn't precise can lower that by many factors. Plus the new LED light bulbs for home lighting already say that they'll last for 25 years.
