Interesting. Strowger was a pissed off US undertaker but I'd never heard 
the term before. My exposure to telco gear was very tangential. We built a 
molding system for the Western Electric Omaha plant. At the time ATT was 
still a monopoly and WE was the manufacturing arm.

'Was' describes almost every company I've ever had anything to do with. 
It's rather depressing.
