Any country can make any energy source of their choice to be the 100% 
provider, as long as consumers don't mind paying 30-40 times more for 
it. Right now in this country, we pay about $0.10 per kilowatt-hour for 
power. We could switch within a decade to pure solar if we wanted to, 
but then the cost of power would be between $1 and $4 per kilowatt-hour. 
You could do the same with wind power, but then the cost of the power 
would be twice what it is for solar, on average. I don't think you're 
going to get Americans to feel good about their electric bills rising by 
a factor of 40, just because you think it would be good to get off 
fossil fuels.

When you can demonstrate that a power technology can compete 
ECONOMICALLY with fossil fuels, then you've got an argument. That's in 
fact what all those alternative power companies are trying to get to.
