Even if he doesn't have a graphing calculator or Matlab or anything like that (and the d0rk likely doesn't) there's always this site (Javascript required, but not plugins): https://www.desmos.com/calculator Try plugging in "sin(x*pi*4)" and "sin(x*pi*5)", which have the same relative proportions as a 120Hz and a 150Hz sine curve. Note how the peaks never quite line up. Or put in "sin(x*pi*4)+sin(x*pi*5)" and note how the extrema are just a smidge short of +/-2. Usefully, it puts gray dots at the zeros and extrema of a function, so you can go to one of those and see that it's at (0.11,1.97) (to three sig figs), falling short of 2.0 by a quantifiable distance of 0.03.
