Exactly.

Contemporary leaders certainly lack, if not the intelligence, the acute
awareness shown by the Founding Fathers regarding the need to always
defend against the incursion of tyranny.  The reason for the Constitution
itself seems lost on the current crop of politicians.

This is why the NSA is given free reign.  Thomas Jefferson would have
bitterly opposed today's political decisions.
