Last night, I suffered a yet another recurrence of a most frustrating phenomenon. But with Microsoft it's not a phenomenon but more like a feature. I tried to install a very "professional" piece of software (SAP Business One). On the "Hello" screen there was a button: "Continue." After clicking I get a window with a simple error statement. Then nothing. I can't proceed. I can't go backward. I have to terminate the process with Task Manager. No logs. No diagnostics. Nothing. I can only imagine what would be done in an actual "on the job" setting. There's be much wasted time and money. With Linux I can get oodles of information for every (rare) failure. Microsoft, and its software "partners," apparently do not want to burden their delicate user base with potentially cryptic messages. They'll offer a "help line" at $99.99 per minute instead.
