Any of the decent biographies of Einstein tell the story. Max Planck was one of the earliest proponents of special relativity, including the E=mc^2 paper written in 1905. However, the photon paper was also written in 1905, and Max Planck hated the paper and thought it was misbegotten. -- Odd Bodkin --- maker of fine toys, tools, tables
