better just to put the styrofoam beads onto the sea, where they will 
reflect a lot more sunlight, as it is a thin layer, and keep the water 
cooler.  No nails needed.

refrigerators generate heat, so that process of making ice cubes adds 
heat to the earths surface.

Better to make millions of aluminized balloons filled with hydrogen 
(more available) and have them float up into the air for about 15 years, 
to reflect the Sun's burning heat rays.  Bet the energy released as heat 
making one of these balloons is less than total energy is reflected by 
the balloon.
