I don't want to write my own tax software. I see absolutely no value in writing my own tax software. I have other more enjoyable and (to me) more important things to do. You, however, have lots and lots and lots of free time, so go ahead and write your own tax software. Here's a thought: Computers are not intended to be hardware boxes with an operating system only, in which all users are supposed to write their own applications. That would be ... what's the word ... insane. Instead, computers become USEFUL and fulfill their INTENDED PURPOSE when they are provisioned with software applications. But different people will have different applications they want to use. So let's see, how to solve that? I know! How about a marketplace of software applications that consumers can evaluate and actually consume? "Heck no!" Fabian says. Consumers shouldn't buy! They should build for themselves. Be a man! Make everything! Well not everything, actually, but software, yes. Why? Because Fabian finds it the most interesting thing on the planet to do. And so EVERYONE should find it just as interesting.
