If we want to keep computing despite being bombarded by electromagnetic 
pulses (EMPs), perhaps we should work on building "fluidic" computers that 
are fast enough to step in and do the job!  Using just electromechanical 
force to power the fluid, if "air" or some gas is the fluid, we might be 
able to make small fluidic circuit chips.  The interconnection of the chips 
would be electrical, but the chips themselves could probably be made immune 
to EMPs.
