I believe that was sometime around '79. But I heard about this thing called Emacs and got a copy from Bell Labs Indian Hill. So, no real time spent fooling with ed. Started using it and never looked back. Soon after I heard about Bill Joy and VI, but I already had Emacs and wasn't interested. -- Dan Espen
