I was thinking about this also, it would either have to be all in
memory, or not at all.  If I do implement this (not very likely
at the moment), I would require everything to be consecutive.
Every instance would have to be an index higher than the last one.

I was thinking of writing my own, but I know that I don't know
all of the things to check for.

It looks like Rod has given a good list, and I will go
