And so there should be enormous and quite distinctive 1.022 MeV gamma 
rays coming specifically from the boundary where those two regions are 
in contact. Any evidence of that?

Don't think we can resolve that? Here's what Andromeda would look like 
in the night sky if it were brighter. That's actual size.
