I have a strange situation. A client is claiming that their Access
database is losing database edits. For example, someone goes in,
modifies a few records, adds a few others, saves, prints the records,
and then, a few days later, his changes are gone. The new records aren't
there, and the edited records are back to their pre-edited state.
Sometimes changes are lost later the same day that they are made.

I tried to explain to the client that there's nothing in Access that can
revert a record to a pre-edited state; that Access doesn't cache data
changes. But their IT department is claiming that nothing's changed on
their end, so it must be the app.

I shared with the client that, somehow, an older copy of the back end is
replacing the updated back end, and that's why the changes are lost. But
they can't figure out how.

I did share with them that this might happen with a replicated server
drive. But I don't know if that's what they have there.

So I just wanted to see if anyone had any other thoughts about what
might be going on here. Also, I just wanted to confirm that there's
nothing within Access that can revert changes back to a pre-edited state
after data has been saved. I've been working with Access for close to 20
years, and I've never heard of anything like this before. Still, you
never know....

Application is a split front end/back end Access 2010 ACCDB file. Both
files are located on the server, and front end is share among a handful
of users. Probably no more than 2 or 3 people at a time would be using
the database. (I advised them to put the front end on each user's
machine, but they didn't.)

Thanks for any input!

Neil
