se usi una connessione sulla porta 119 (in chiaro) devi andare in:
Manutenzione e backup -> Sicurezza
ed attivare "Consenti autenticazione non cifrata"

Ma sarebbe molto meglio se tu non lo facessi e configurassi l'account 
su Eternal-september con SSL attivo su porta 563
