I'm confused.

My router is set for DNS to go through the Google servers (eg 8.8.8.8).

I ran the DNS leak test (https://www.dnsleaktest.com/) with and without
VPN, and in all cases, the result showed Google servers in the USA (even
with an out of country VPN service).

The explanation at the bottom of the DNS Leak page says "If you are
connected to a VPN service and ANY of the servers listed above are not
provided by the VPN service then you have a DNS leak."

So, I have a DNS leak.
I think that means that, even when connected to VPN, my port 53 DNS 
requests bypass the VPN as shown in the diagram here

I thank you for pointing my DNS leak out, as I was unaware.

But what do I do about it?
How do I tell the VPN to do the DNS lookup for me?
