Another bigger problem is that of memory management.  Such a run-time
concatenation operator would imply dynamic allocation of memory, which
is not something that is provided by the C programming language in the
first place! (we have to use a library function malloc, implemented
using OS syscalls).

And if you introduce such implicit memory allocations, you increase the
risk of memory leaks, if you don't add a garbage collector.  (Notice how
all the languages that have such operations have also a garbage
collector!).
