Indeed they did. But, in a quick revision as a result, the prediction
was made that those oblasts weren't the main game - every single oblast
in Ukraine was the aim and 2022 was the last opportunity to *finish the
job*. One huge issue was *demogrphics* and, after 2022, it would have
become increasingly difficult for Russia to muster up a sufficiently
large army. Putin fully expected all resistance in Ukraine to collapse
but, as history shows, the Ukrainians had suffered under Russian control
before and weren't about to wear another dose. But, even if the aims of
2022 were achieved, it wouldn't have ended there. The clue is in what
Russia has been doing since the fall of the Soviet Union. As I said,
Peter Zeihan's book makes everything as clear as crystal. Worth reading!
