I'm envious of the days I could just plug things into a power strip. You've heard me mention before I live in Senegal, where the quality of AC power is atrocious. My important equipment (PC, NAS, router, ADSL modem) are all protected by a bevy of voltage regulators, battery backups, some transformers, and then finally the surge protectors. Even then when the power gets wonky I run around and shut down systems entirely. When the AC is going ka-thunk, ka-thunk, it's better to just read a book and write with a pen and ink.
