The problem is that these three declarations:
void func(int x[100]);
void func(int x[]);
void func(int *x);
all mean exactly the same thing, and the 100 is quietly ignored. If you
write the first, it's obvious that you *intended* x to point the first
element of an array with at least 100 elements -- but it's equally
obvious to anyone who knows C sufficiently well that you haven't
expressed that intent to the compiler.
It would have been nice if
void func(int x[100]);
had meant what
void func(int x[static 100]);
means, but it was too late to change the existing meaning.
