Yes, I did that here two weeks after buying my first tablet.

Actually, the main thrust of my suggestion is to use the tablet as 
a touchpad (see the subject line).

Not really, again, except for the pointer acceleration part. I'm a 
novice programmer and I can do most of that stuff on a PC. 

All you would have to do, as already described once or twice in 
this thread, is to display a tiny pointer on the tablet screen and 
then use the tablet as a touchpad, using relative coordinates 
instead of touch coordinates. It's that simple. 

That doesn't accommodate the keyboard part, but a programmer could 
easily turn the tablet into a touchpad. But, again and again and 
again, it might be a little awkward since the tablet usually uses 
the clumsy touch GUI which would be showing on the monitor. 

I suppose a Windows 8 tablet that can jump into the desktop would
be a prime candidate for such a device. But I don't know anything
about Windows 8 tablets. I suppose they can get to the desktop
like I do on a PC.
