First one should be "lf" ('long float').
When calling a varargs function it is legal to pass 'float' where
'double' is expected and vice versa.
A lot of rules for 'float' were changed, just not this one.
So there is your problem.
The 'printf' side has always been more tolerant; screwing up a 'scanf'
format will quickly crash, if you're lucky...
