I think it is somewhere in the Word preferences. Installing 10.9 apparently damaged or defaulted some but not all preference files. My copy of Office 2011 started demanding a license key every time I tried to use it. Fixed by copying in all its pref files from another Mac OS partition--which also gave me this directory hassle. The GUI preference setting, though, doesn't have a "use last" setting. Mine will allow me to choose a place, but it's currently blank, and if I click "Modify" I'm offered a standard Mac finder widget. (With no "use last" option) -- Wes Groleau You always have time for what you do first.
