Now that is an even better answer.

And the API can either be obtained from an e2fslibs-dev
package or at

I did previously have a look on CPAN to see if anybody had done
anything in Perl (did I type it properly this time? ;+])
but the cupboard was bare.

Is it not advisable to fsck a file system at least
every 3-6 months, or is that just an urban legend?
