TIA By "old school" you must mean SQL89 or even ante-standard SQL? That's properly old alright. If it's SQL92 plus many later features you are interested in, I'd suggest any of Rick van der Lans' SQL books. (Full disclosure, I was a technical reviewer for one of them.) His Introduction to SQL is now in its fourth edition: http://www.amazon.com/Introduction-SQL-Mastering-Relational-Database/dp/0321305965 -- Roy UK Actian User Association Conference 2013 will be on Tuesday June 11. 2013. The latest information is available from www.uk-iua.org.uk.
