Save your time and trouble. Simply make sure all processes are done when 
you close the lid. What happened is probably and anomoly as something 
was underway the moment you shut the lid, so it never entered Sleep 
mode. Better still, the idea above: Shut it down if going into an 
enclosed space for a while.
