Two lots of validity checking will be done! Suppose there is a chain of such calls (with some recursive algorithm for example)? It seems this can get out of hand. When we have trusted pointers, we need a way of communicating the fact to library functions so that a program doesn't spend half it's time checking arguments for no purpose. Perhaps two sets of each function, one fast and one safe. -- Bartc
