Lifebook Passwords???

Bought a Fujitsu Lifebook E6644.
Has a password system that's new to me.
Has 5 buttons on the front to enter the password.
When you turn it on, it does nothing, nada, zip
until you enter the correct password.  Just beeps
on the error.  Screen doesn't light up, nothing...

Can't find a user manual.
Nothing about the protection scheme.
I found one link to a generic Fujitsu way to reflash the bios
by changing a jumper that doesn't seem to exist
on this machine.  Not clear if it would require the
initial password to run it tho...
Not clear if there are other problems with the laptop.

Anybody got any info on this?
Any hope of recovering the system?
Hate to see it go into the landfill.
