I've just backported the php5-xdebug package for squeeze from SVN version 
2.2.0 that supports XDEBUG_TRACE trigger. It's been a very valuable tool 
for me. You can find the download links for .deb package, the patched 
source and read more about it on xdebug.org: http://bugs.xdebug.org/
view.php?id=517

Warning: this is not an official release. It's simply my quick fix to get 
the feature working in squeeze. If you trust me enough go ahead and use 
it.
