so the degree to which your post was a troll is manifest by:

1. hijacking a thread explicitly for Sinclair BASIC ("ZX83" here)
   by means of BBC BASIC

2. posting a routine that isn't for converting date-stamps
   in genealogy software

3. posting a routine that isn't for converting date-stamps
   in software unrelated to my routines

4. posting a routine that can't handle Julian dates
   as will be found as recently as the early 1900s for
   the places stated in my original post, such as the
   Russian Empire, nor Old-Style dates prior to 1752 for
   the British Empire

5+ posting a routine that is misposted here for the reasons
   given by others . . .

. . . thereby scoring well over 5 on the Troll Richter Scale. Well done!
