And oddly enough, Disk Utility under recovery mode gives a clean bill of 
health:

But try again normally and the result is the same as the prior post:

      (0x82dc03ba1943e020)
     Object map is invalid.
     The volume /dev/rdisk2s1 could not be verified completely.
