The opensuse live boot menu has a media check, but I'm not sure exactly what it does. I'm running it on the bad usb. It is loading some kind of linux. It looks like it gives a report on the md5 of the .iso that was written to the USB. There's nothing wrong there. At the end of that process it stops at the common boot failure text which says: Welcome to openSUSE Leap 15.0 - Kernel 4.12.14 etc default (tty1) localhost login: I'm going to do that again; an important screen exited itself too quickly for me. -- Mike Easter
