Confirmed that it does this, but no I don't know why.

I wonder if this is the source of some of the "cursor disappearing in
Yosemite" complaints I've come across.

When I'm running Amadeus Pro, the mouse cursor does change when over
a sound track, and I've noticed that since moving to Yosemite, it
sometimes doesn't revert to a normal cursor when moving away from that
app.  Only very occasionally, and I haven't seen it in a while (since
10.10.1 came along? - dunno).
