I have long used a similar but more drastic way of control. I just have
one line in a filter for all groups that says if the Newsgroups line
contains "," (just a comma - no brackets) then delete. That deletes all
cross posted messages - and as nearly every crossposted message is spam
that's good enough for me by me. If you add another line to that saying
if "Message-ID" contains "googlegroups.com" then that gets rid of the
rest of the spam. I have similar ones that remove HTML too, but as most
people stick to the Usenet rules that's not used much.
