If you agree with the "values of freedom and equality" then you do not 
want to deny people equal rights, but this author does. The very 
premise, here, that predominantly Muslim nations do not respect rights 
is a right wing / bigoted claim that does not stand up to the facts:

Carson has a point that many countries with a majority-Muslim population 
do have poor records on institutional discrimination against women, 
members of the LGBT community and religious minorities. However, his 
broad-brush statement glosses over the fact that such policies are not 
universal. Numerous Muslim countries offer freedoms in each category. We 
rate the claim Mostly False.

But even worse for those who say this, mostly right wing Christians, 
they themselves ALSO do not back many of the same rights. They ALSO want 
to deny women then right to their own bodies, want to deny gays the 
right to marry, want to otherwise deny rights to others and have special 
entitlements for themselves. Their biggest issue is that others want 
what THEY demand.

Personal attacks from those who troll show their own insecurity. They 
cannot use reason to show the message to be wrong so they try to feel 
somehow superior by attacking the messenger.

They cling to their attacks and ignore the message time and time again.
