Actually, the emotionality and lack of substantiveness of the responses here are evidence that this is a notion that strikes deep into human consciousness.  I've known this for a long time.  People want to believe things about water that simply aren't true.  They immediately start grasping at straws of anecdotal evidence--just like if this was a religious discussion.

I'm not taking the affirmative.  The boiling point of H2O has been confirmed by experimental evidence.  Saying that it, somehow, magically acts different in the atmosphere is the affirmative.  I cannot be expected to dispute what people believe.  If you believe in bigfoot it is not my responsibility to find evidence that bigfoot does not exist.
