Sometimes I click on a post, in the top panel that holds the list of
posts, and instead or besides displaying the post in the bottom big
panel, it also opens the post in a tab, as if I double clicked. But I
didn't. Sometimes it opens the entire thread in many different tabs that
I then have to close.

Can I configure somehow not to interpret single click as double clicks
and do that tab opening? It is a nuisance.

Only happens in Thunderbird.
