Green may hint at chlorophyll, but the evolution of plants to use the 
red (low energy) end of the spectrum, and reflect the green, seems to 
have been because their ancestors lived in the sea below other 
photosynthetic life (now extinct) that absorbed the green (high energy) 
end of the spectrum.

So there's nothing about "green" that really says "life" any more than 
red does, or even black.
