In my understanding spacetime behaves like complex numbers.

So a Minkowski diagram can be interpreted as a certain version of an 
Argand diagram.

Also the fractal called 'Hofstadter's butterfly' looks like a spacetime 
diagram:

Our world is then a certain subset of a larger picture. We see it from 
within, as kind of part.

How the entire thing looks like could therefore only be estimated by 
assuming something and looking, if that would look like our world, if 
being in our position.
