As I recall, Snit did that or something like it. It's the Mad Libs concept... mine works like that but dynamically (I showed some data earlier on a gist). He put 'his' bot code up on github and the responses are all mixed in with the code. He claimed it enabled him to better write the responses. Like you, I talked of doing it dynamically and he saw it as a deterrent to writing them. Like he did with 'his', I also wrote a few utility functions that capitalize the first letter or an entire word/phrase... or put quotes around it. I was thinking about writing custom functions as contained with the given data for a topic but I haven't implemented it dynamically so as to be incorporated into the output. Example would be a topic of baseball, when a player's name is mentioned it could hit an API and 'talk' a bit using that obtained data... same for movies, books, whatever. > Running mine a few times, I notice it responds with a lot of "I didn't > catch that" or "What?".
