I started to respond to the long manifesto posted earlier, but decided it 
was so full of well-poisoning that it wasn't worth the effort to debunk.  
Make of that what you will.

But there is this common myth that, somehow, Windows provides a more 
"consistent" desktop interface, and is therefore somehow superior in that 
regard.

But how true is that?

Stipulating for the nonce that consistency = superiority, I still 
challenge the idea that Windows is any more consistent than any other 
operating system.  As evidence, I give you:

I decided to let the video speak for itself, so, no audio.

What you will see is that Windows application interfaces are designed for 
the task at hand, which may or may not be "consistent" with other tools.

In fact, Linux may be more consistent in its interfaces than Windows!
