Is what common ?  Reading online ?  Plenty clearly do that.

It's obvious that some like Morten and Barb don't, their posts
clearly show up in bursts which shows that they are replying
offline but that isn't true of most of the rest of the posters.

I was just commenting on what the usenet client
shows number lines wise and size of message
wise.  I wasn't commenting on anything else.
