Seconded. It's a bit annoying to have to wade through hundreds
of lines of cited but irrelevant text to find what you actually
reply to (and that easily could make me miss a short but impor-
tant paragraph you inserted somewhere in all that text). Like
Keith (and lots of others here) I don't use Google groups and
there's no good way of hiding all of what you cited - and that
would actually be counterproductive since what exactly you are
replying to is what's interesting and I can't see that when it
is all hidden;-) So yes, please consider removing all the stuff
that's not really relevant to understand your reply when citing.
And if you just want to say "thank you" (nobody, I guess, will
mind that;-) then just leave in the line that shows the author
of what you're replying to and add a line with e.g.
[ interesting stuff snipped ]
Everybody will understand what's meant and, if interested, will
be able to look up the posting you're refering to.
