Do you remember the movie 'Terminator II' with Arnold Schwarzenegger?

Certainly you do. And there was a scene, where the bad guy talked to the 
hero in the voice of his parents (whom killed actually).

Now lets assume, the film wants people to know, that there are devices, 
that would people (falsely) believe, they had their mother/son on the 
phone, but actually talk to a machine.

This machine would (possibly) make certain mistakes. E.g. they would say 
'Mother, this is Mark Bingham, your son..'.

Or they would try to get through to the husband, but forget, this 
husband has a secretary (and lots of appointments).

Now these device are certainly smarter (compared to 2001), but still 
make mistakes.

The problem is apparently not the voice, but the content of the 
conversation, since it's extremely difficult to convince a human being, 
that a piece of software is actually alive.
