So think of it in terms of revolutions... we're used to discussing
rotation in revolutions per minute. A circle translates into a
sinewave because a full rotation is 2*pi radians, because a circle's
circumference is 2*pi*radius. So a sinewave's frequency (the time it
takes to complete one full sine, or one full "rotation" of 2*pi
radians) is the same as RPMs, whereas the amplitude of the sinewave is
analogous to the radius of the circle.

Euler's formula describes two equivalent ways to move in a circle. The
ratio of sin(x)/x determines vertical and horizontal movement around
the perimeter of that circle. Thus the statement cos(x)+ i*sin(x) is a
way to embody both coordinates into a single number. If we set x=pi,
we've moved halfway around that circle, and x=2*pi describes a full
circle.

Thus, if you transpose a sine in the vertical with an identical sine
in the horizontal, you go in a circle.

And that brings us to the differential equation part of it... a sine's
behavior can be described by y"=-y, which is another way of saying
that for a given position y, the acceleration (y") is opposite y.
Likewise, cosine can be described by y"=y, which is another way of
saying that for a given position y, the acceleration (y") is equal to
y.

And *that* is why DildoRider's kooky sinewave subtraction equation
doesn't work, no matter if he swaps out the minus signs for plus
signs... if he understood the concept behind how sinewaves are a
transformation of a circle, he'd have realized this from the start.

He didn't, because  he's a mathematical moron. LOL
