Why do you say that? As long as the utility operates on a mounted volume or goes
through the proper API for mounting a volume, it will perform its function.

I've had no problem cloning with SuperDuper! or rebuilding with DiskWarrior.

It's not the length so much as it is the difficulity a thief would have finding
a starting place for his cracking program. Obvious and word play should be
avoided but strings made from the first (or second) letters of a phrase that you
are familiar with, with some scattered capitalization work pretty well.
